CH boilers service – problems and solutions

Correct operation of CH boilers translates into their trouble-free use and contributes to long service life of the equipment. Below is a table showing the most common causes of failure of heating boilers and ways to avoid these defects.

Water getting out of the boilerThe so called “boiler sweating” is a natural phenomenon resulting from the temperature differences in the boilerAt boiler start-up and after each downtime the boiler should be “burned-in” i.e. fire it up to 70°C and maintain the temperature for several hours
Too low boiler temperature settingIncrease the temperature
Fuel with excessive moistureDry/replace the fuel
“Knocking/shooting” in the boilerAir pockets in the central heating system and the boiler, e.g. due to incorrect filling of the system and the boiler with water“Boiler burn-in”, i.e. maintaining the temperature of 70°C for an extended period, i.e. until the pockets of air are completely removed from the boiler. De-aeration of the system is done through radiator vents
